Teeth Whitening
Professional teeth whitening at Smile by Dr. Bakhtiyar in Baku is done under dentist supervision, after your teeth and gums are checked.

Teeth whitening is a cosmetic procedure in which a special gel lightens stains inside the enamel (the hard outer layer of the tooth). At Smile by Dr. Bakhtiyar in Baku two options are used: in-office whitening with the Philips Zoom 4 lamp and whitening with Ultradent Boost gel. Our restorative dentists Dr. Nuran Eyvazova and Dr. Minaya Babayeva choose the method after an examination.
Tea, coffee, smoking and certain foods gradually make teeth look yellow. With age, enamel naturally becomes darker. If you have a wedding, a graduation or an important meeting ahead, whitening is a good way to refresh your smile. However, if you have decay, enamel cracks or gum inflammation, these are treated first.
The process starts with a first visit and examination. If needed, professional hygiene is done first, because the surface under plaque and tartar will not lighten. Then the gums are covered with a protective barrier, the gel is applied and activated with the Philips Zoom 4 lamp. One in-office session usually takes around one hour.
For the first 48 hours teeth are more open to staining foods. During this time it is best to avoid coffee, black tea, red wine, tomato sauces and cigarettes. Some patients feel mild sensitivity for a day or two, which is normal. With good care, brushing twice a day and regular hygiene visits, the result usually lasts 1–2 years.
Whitening with Ultradent Boost starts from 550 AZN, and whitening with Philips Zoom 4 starts from 1200 AZN. Complex professional oral hygiene costs 160 AZN and is often recommended before the procedure. The first visit with consultation and a personal plan is 60 AZN. The final amount is confirmed after your examination: +994 55 501 01 07.

Frequently asked questions
Does whitening damage the teeth?
When the procedure is done by a dentist with a properly chosen gel, the enamel stays intact. That is why your teeth and gums are checked first. If there is decay or inflammation, it is treated before whitening.
How long does the result last?
With good care and diet the result usually lasts 1–2 years. Coffee, black tea and smoking bring the colour back faster. Regular professional hygiene visits help keep the brightness longer.
Is the procedure painful?
Whitening itself is not painful; you simply relax in the chair. Some patients feel sensitivity to cold for a day or two afterwards. It passes on its own, and if needed the dentist recommends a toothpaste for sensitive teeth.
Do fillings and zirconia crowns also become whiter?
No, whitening works only on natural tooth tissue. Fillings, veneers and crowns keep their original colour. So fillings on front teeth may need to be replaced after whitening to match the new shade.
Who should not have whitening?
Professional whitening is not recommended for people under 18 or for pregnant and breastfeeding women. Untreated decay, enamel cracks and gum inflammation are treated first. Your dentist will tell you at the examination whether it suits you.
